Training and Education
Training and education are the best tools for the prevention of discrimination and harassment, and ensuring that members of the college community understand Vassar's policies and procedures, are aware of the various types of conduct that may constitute a violation of these policies, and know where to turn should an issue arise.
The Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action offers a variety of educational programs for faculty, students, and employees including small group discussions for new faculty about the student-faculty relationship as teacher, advisor, mentor, and friend, half-day workshops tailored to a department's or division's specific needs on creating a respectful working and learning environment free from discrimination and harassment, affirmative action and equal employment opportunity workshops and consultations, and educational programs on responding to bias incidents and hate crimes on campus.
On-Line Training Modules
In support of Vassar's commitment to maintain a positive, productive learning and working environment that is free from any form of harassment, and to provide our community with the knowledge and skills needed to fulfill their responsibilities, we are introducing a new online training program, Preventing Sexual Harassment. Preventing Sexual Harassment enables you to train yourself in a practical, convenient way. The online course takes approximately 45 minutes to complete, including the mastery test.
