About the EOAA Office
In keeping with the long-standing traditions of the college, Vassar is committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive working and learning environment free from discrimination and harassment. This commitment extends beyond mere compliance with the law and requires a strong program of equal opportunity and affirmative action in virtually all aspects of college life. The Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action supports and enhances Vassar College's commitment to inclusion, equity, and excellence by providing consultation, guidance, educational resources, and outreach to all members of the college community on affirmative action, equal employment opportunity, civil rights, Title IX, and the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act of 2008/Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
Reporting directly to the president of Vassar College, the work of the office is carried out by the director of equal opportunity, who is the college’s designated Title IX Coordinator, and by the faculty director of affirmative action. The EOAA office is charged with investigating allegations of discrimination and harassment, including sexual harassment, in the working and learning environment in accordance with Vassar College’s Policy Against Discrimination and Harassment. The office also conducts ongoing education and awareness programs on affirmative action, discrimination and harassment, and creating a respectful working and learning environment.
Appointments with the Director of Equal Opportunity or the Faculty Director of Affirmative Action can be made by contacting the main office. The EOAA office is located in Metcalf House on the first floor, and is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. during the academic year and by appointment during the summer.
